4 Simple Tips For Preventing Dog Arthritis

Although dog arthritis is very common and usually results from the normal wear and tear of a dog’s life, there are some things that you can do to strengthen your dog’s  joints and prevent them from developing this painful condition. If your pet already suffers from arthritis, following these tips will help alleviate the pain and prevent the condition from worsening.

4 simple tips to prevent dog arthritis:

  1. Feed your pet a well balanced diet that delivers all the nutrients they need in the right amount. Don’t over feed your pet as excess weight puts additional stress on the bones and joints. This is especially important if your dog is old and/or inactive. If your pet is already overweight, help him lose weight with a proper diet and exercise routine.
  2. Add supplements that support healthy joints and cartilage.
  3. Make sure your pet gets a good amount of exercise every day. This is very important to form and maintain strong muscles and flexible joints.
  4. If your pet gets a bone or joint injury, make sure he receives proper care and the injury heals completely (100% rest!) before your pet resumes his normal activities. Improperly healed joints are more prone to developing arthritis.
